It is not necessary that God comes to us in the atire or the swaroopa that we see in the temples and/or in idols.
God being all powerful can take any swaroopa or manifest in any form. He may manifest through an ordinary person, or an individual or an idol that we relate or worship everyday and we may fail to recognise Him completely. Therefore, wisemen advice us to behave nicely with everyone.
May God bless us with the wisdom to recognise Him when He visits us!
