FASTING PURIFIES BODY, MEDITATION PURIFIES MIND!
If we constantly feed our stomach we will fall sick. Overeating is dangerous. These days dieticians and doctors advise intermittent fasting. We need to rest our stomach regularly. Therefore, all most all religions encourage fasting in different ways.
Just as fasting is required for body’s rest and rejuvenation, mental break is required for resting our mind. We should not constantly feed our mind with thoughts, stimulus and activities.
Sleep is supposed to give rest to mind. But even in sleep, uncontrolled dreams occupy our mind. Best is meditation and/or music, light reading, persuing hobbies, watching comedy shows etc.
May God bless us with the wisdom to rest and rejuvenate our mind through meditation and hobbies!
