AVOID ARGUMENTS, AS THEY SPOIL RELATIONSHIPS!
Debate is better than an argument. In a debate we discuss an idea or a point of view, whereas in an argument we try to prove our point right. We may win an argument, but lose a friend.
If at all we need to argue, then we should choose a person of higher intelligence than us.
We should not argue with a stupid person, as we can’t win him unless we equal to his stupidity. It is better to argue with a person of higher Intelligence, as it will inspire/force us to raise our standard as well.
