Consensus in any decision is the ideal, but not advisable where the group has diverse and strong views.
If we wait for people to change mind and agree to our proposal, then we will keep waiting only. We cannot change our own nature, where is the question of changing others?
Sometimes we need to assume powers in the larger interest of the group/family/society and the Nation.
