Mahashivratri is celebrated to commemorate the wedding of Shiva and Parvati.
Shiva and Shakti both are required to run this Universe. Both are worshipped in Santana Dharma.
It is believed that on Mahashivratri Lord Shiva performed Tandava – a Cosmic Dance symbolising the rhythmic creation, preservation and destruction of the Universe.
Today is the day when Lord Shiva consumed poision arisen from Samudramanthan to save the world from the destruction.
Many a times we also need to consume poisonous (humiliating) words, behaviour, criticism within and without family to save relationships/reputation of the family.
May Lord Shiva bless the Universe with His grace and save the world from destruction by wars, natural calamities, Pandemics, diseases, terrorism and so on!
